Upon the removal of your braces, you will be required to put on retainers in order to anchor your teeth in their newly aligned positions. They are necessary because even after orthodontic treatment, your teeth can move out of position due to maturational changes. Your retainers will generally be ready in 5 to 7 working days after impression taking (applicable to most types except Vivera retainers).
You will be required to wear your retainers at all times for the first year. Subsequently, you should wear your retainers at night for the rest of your life.
What are the type of retainers we offer?
Clear (High Impact)
Clear (Essix) retainers are made entirely from plastic. They are removable, hence making them easy to care for. Being virtually invisible, it is an ideal option for people who feel conscious about wearing a wired retainer. Clear (High Impact) retainers are meant to absorb higher impact and may be suitable for people who tend to grind their teeth.
Hawley retainers, otherwise also known as ‘metal retainers’, are made of a plastic shell that coats the roof of your mouth, and a wire that runs over the front of your teeth. Similar to clear (essix) retainers, they are removable, hence making them easy to care for.
Fixed retainers, otherwise also known as permanent retainers, are non-removable retainers that are designed to stay in your mouth for a long period of time. They are made from a very thin piece of wire that is glued with a special bonding material to the back of your teeth. As they are mounted behind your teeth, they are not noticeable at all.
Fixed retainers are great for people who do not want to worry about removing and losing their retainers. However, special care needs to be taken to clean the teeth that are bonded to the retainer.
From $900 (3 sets)
Similar to clear (essix) retainers, Vivera retainers are removable, and also virtually invisible. Vivera retainers are made with the same technology as Invisalign aligners, and offer a number of benefits over clear (essix) retainers:
•Comfort – Unlike clear (essix) retainers that are made from a mould of your teeth, Vivera retainers are made based on a 3D scan of your teeth. This creates retainers of a better fit, and hence a greater level of comfort for the wearer.
•Durability – According to a lab test conducted by Invisalign, Vivera retainers are 30% stronger than other clear retainers. This reduces the risk of the retainers cracking or breaking.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How long can a clear retainers last?
The durability of the retainer is dependent on your lifestyle habits and how you care for them so we are unable to advise how long it will last.
2. May I know if the orthodontic treatment will be done by an specialist/orthodontist?
Please note that we do not have orthodontists at our clinics. However, please be assured that our general practitioners are trained and experienced in performing orthodontics treatment.
3. I just received a new set of aligners/retainers, and my teeth is in pain and feels sore now. Is this considered normal?
Yes, it is normal. The pressure that tightening applies to the teeth can make the teeth sore for a few days after an adjustment. However, if the symptoms worsen on the second day with severe pain* and fever occurring concurrently, please contact our clinic immediately.
4. Can the retainers be collected on my behalf?
While it is possible to appoint someone to collect your retainers on your behalf, we must inform you that we will not warranty the fit of your retainers in this circumstance.
5. How soon can I collect my retainers after the mould is taken?
Your retainers will generally be ready in 5 to 7 working days after impression taking (applicable to all types except vivera).
